Client Review of Couples Swept Away, Negril Jamaica

Thank you!  We had a wonderful time.

Jeff Herron Photography, Inc.The pictures cannot do justice to this place.  The beach (sand and water) is the best I’ve ever seen and from talking with other tourists, the best on the 7 mile beach in Negril.  The beach is about ¼ mile long, so plenty of room to sit and be left alone, or get in a big group.  I never had a problem finding a chair.  The water sports place always had enough of whatever you wanted, and plenty of clean towels so if you wanted fresh towels every hour, they could accommodate.  There were enough beach bars to get your drinks, and they also hand out flags you can hold up if you want them to serve you.

The food was excellent and we always had plenty of options with the restaurants.  The nightlife is perfect for 30+.  They had places that would stay open until 2:00 a.m. if you wanted, but if you wanted to go back to your room at 9:00 for a good night sleep, you can.  I also never saw anyone get obnoxiously drunk.  And I like to drink but I don’t want to feel like I’m at spring break.  They have top shelf liquor at all the bars, but the only beer choice is Red Stripe or Red Stripe Light.

Jeff Herron Photography, Inc.The rooms were as expected.  A little outdated, but certainly comfortable and clean.  They stocked the mini-bar with whatever we requested.  They were remodeling one of the houses on the property while we were there so I’m assuming they are updating the rooms, house by house.

The spa was wonderful.  We did a couples massage and it was worth every penny.

We took a tour of the athletic facilities, and while we didn’t use it, were quite impressed with all that they offer and the condition of everything.

All staff were welcoming, smiling, and very helpful whenever we asked for anything.

Jeff Herron Photography, Inc.Downside – the vendors.  The beach is public property, so they can’t keep the vendors from walking on the beach, but they don’t come up to you unless you ask them.  But they will ask, and ask, and ask….  We walked off the property to go look at some shops and some of the vendors off the resort were down right mean.  They will try to sell you jewelry, pot, fruit, anything.  If you don’t buy from them, some of them would curse at you.  So yes, that’s a big down side.

Our only other disappointment was that they advertise a free Scuba dive.  Lance tried to use this option and they will allow guests a free dive, but they have to be able to swim (breast stroke) the pool 8 times, without stopping.  While I understand this is for safety, Lance didn’t have to do this at Iberostar, and was unable to go Scuba diving because he couldn’t swim the pool 8 times.  There were three other guests that we spoke with, all had been Scuba diving before as well, and also couldn’t meet the requirements.  So that was disappointing.

All in all, I’d recommend the place, but if you have clients asking, the vendors are a major pain, and by the third or fourth day, you learn to just ignore them.  I found that if I was reading my book, they didn’t bother me.
