Melissa Recommends: Luggage Shopping

How big can my carry on be?
Do I measure the wheels when I am figuring it out?
How much can my checked bag weigh?

We get these questions and more about luggage/baggage.
Here are some of my recommendations for you, when purchasing luggage and travel items

Size Matters:
Most airlines have similar rules for guidelines on checked bags and carry on bags
When on smaller aircrafts, the airlines get really strict with what you can and cannot carry on.
Here is a set that I like:  Amazon.com Luggage Link
I like that you can get this luggage set in different colors.  When pulling luggage off the carousel, it makes life just a little easier when you can spot your luggage coming down.  If you choose black or navy blue, as these are the most common colors, be sure to put a bright luggage tag on there, or something bright.  Don’t use red ribbon…..everybody uses red ribbon on the handle!!!  Funny!
I like that the sizes are pretty standard.  These would fit most airlines most of the time.

Travel Belts/Neck Safes:
Fanny Packs be gone.  I like the Travel Belt and the Neck Safe when traveling abroad.  I have used both and like the idea of hiding my valuables, but still being able to take them with me at all times.
Here is a set that I like:  Amazon.com Accessories Link
I like the neutral color, blends in with my clothes and skin better than the black.

To Convert or Not to Convert:
Converter’s are necessary in most countries.  If you’re not sure if you need a converter, here is a great website to check:  https://www.worldstandards.eu/electricity/plug-voltage-by-country/

As of 2015, a decent converter should cost around $40-$50, give or take.  If you see one that is way less than this, it could be just the plugs you are buying.  Do not just use the plugs, you need the converter box to convert the electricity!!!  Without the box, you could melt appliances and electronics.  BE SURE you have what is needed.  Do not guess at this.  Melted curling irons and sizzled phones are the last thing you need.

More recommendations coming soon…..
