This couple stayed at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall hotel, a great adults only hotel in Jamaica. The hotel is about 10 miles from the airport in Montego Bay. A quick transfer and you will be sitting on the beach or by the pool in no time! It is a 5 star all-inclusive offering 5 restaurants, 5 bars including a swimup and 24 hour room service. This is a review from some honeymooners that stayed her for a week in May.
Just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know we had a WONDERFUL honeymoon in Jamaica! The Iberostar Grand was stellar and we loved the resort! Glad we weren’t in downtown Montego Bay.
We spent the first 2 days at the resort, then used Jamaica Tours Limited and booked 3 excursions (coming back to the resort at night) and then spent the last two days at the resort.
JTL was easy to book with and nice they were right at our resort. We did the snorkeling on a catamaran, black river & YS falls trip, and a day trip to Negril. Only thing we didn’t like was having to pick up others at hotels along the way – slowed up our times. Negril seemed like a nice place to stay too – but we thought our resort was pretty sweet – didn’t see much better than that! 🙂 The Turn Down service was my favorite!
Thanks again for your help! We saw our name on the “daily journal” at the resort for congrats shoutout so that was fun too!
Details on the Black River and YS trip:
The Black River and YS trip was our favorite of them all! WE booked it through JTL and we left at 745 am from our resort. There were only two other couples with us and our tour guide, Priest Jerome, was awesome! I think that we had a small group and our tour guide was so fun are what partly made our trip. It was a long ways away but the guide knew so much about Jamaica and narrated the whole time and was silly. He stopped along the way and got us honey bananas and raw sugar cane that we tried on our ride. It was cool because we got to see and try real Jamaica while still being safe! Or at least I felt that way 😉 I also think our trip to Maui where we did the road to Hana prepared us for driving there. Another couple from Belgium seemed like they were having a heart attack about the driving there haha.
The Black River Safari – is kind of a fancy name for what you do. We got to this spot where you are taken out on pontoons that are kind of older. The driver/guide of the boat was knowledgeable and did a good job. The river is actually really clean and clear but its black because it has peet moss at the bottom and it looks black. We got to see crocodiles – that was kind of the highlight. There were some pretty views but other than that it was kind like any other river. They served you a Jamaican lunch there which was rice and beans, jerk chicken and fish. It was good.
We then went to YS Falls which was about 15 minutes from there. Such a pretty property. We got off our bus and on to a tractor and wagon (they call it a jitney) that took us through the property. The property is beautiful with rolling hills, cows, horses etc. – its about a 5min ride to get to the falls. Once we were there we started going up to see the falls and they have employees who tell you where to go, help you in the water and take your picture – of course a tip is what they are looking for 🙂 But it was nice to have there. Paul did the rope swing and we just went in for a pic, not much else. It had rained the day before so the falls were rushing. They also had a regular pool and a freshwater pool to hang out at afterwards and a gift shop and stuff.
The way home we went a different way that was really pretty! We were with a couple who had visited Dunn’s River Falls the day before and they said hands down they preferred YS over Dunns. Less tourists, more calm, and more beautiful were their reasons.
Thanks again for your help! We definitely liked the Iberostar resort and would stay with them again if they are in a place we want to go. The Grand is the way to go too! We talked to quite a few people who had been at the one in Mexico and they couldn’t say enough good things about it!.
