June 10 Aussie time and day

Departed Nadi, Fiji bright and early this morning.  Just arrived in Brisbane, Australia and waiting for our connection to Mackay where we will pick up a rental car.

Hopefully we will not be too tired to remember to drive on the wrong side of the road.

Dave and I learned a valuable lesson today.  “Do not recommend that anyone start their drive through Australia in the dark.”  Up until today, our weather has been  superb.  In fact the sun was shining brightly in Brisbane.  However, we were greeted in Mackay with rain.  The combination of rain, no stars/moon, no highway lighting and driving on the opposite side of the road from what we are use to made the drive to Airlie Beach less than desirable.

Airlie Beach turned out to be resort town particularly popular with young people.  According to Dave our motel was just “so” “so” but keep in mind that we had just experienced over water bungalows at the InterContinental Moorea and InterContinental Le Moana Bora Bora..

  • Love your blogging! I spent a scant night in Fiji and several hours in the Nadi airport. What I remember is that the airport was hot hot hot! But, Fiji was
beautiful. Can’t wait to hear about how you love Australia.
