Melissa visits Disney’s Art of Animation
Let me start with the fact that I have traveled to Walt Disney World several times, been to Disneyland, and have sailed on 2 Disney Cruises. I have a passion for all things Disney, and this trip is no exception. I will be the first to admit that I have moved to the ‘super fan’ level when it comes to Disney. Yep. Kind of crazy!!
On this trip, I traveled with my Mom and my 2 daughters, age 9 & 7 at the time.

We booked in a family suite, in the Lion King wing.
I had requested to be as close to the pool as possible, as on paper, on a map, it looks like the rooms in that Lion King wing are a long distance from the pool.
I was pleasantly surprised at just how close the buildings actually are.
The set up of the buildings is pretty much like the All Star resorts, not a ton different. All the images and creatures are the larger than life creatures, so you look like the miniature there.
The food court – The food was pretty good. There was a nice variety of stations and it was open late. There was even a section, over in the ala carte area, where you could buy a gallon of milk, and a 2 liter of soda, that type of thing. That was nice, because part of the point of staying in a room with a kitchenette is being able to cook some of your own food, or at least keep it refrigerated. It wasn’t ridiculously expensive either, so that was nice. Even at the peak dining times, there always seemed to be ample seating.
The pool – The main pool was huge. It doesn’t have a waterslide, but we made the best of that, the kids swam and swam and swam, and they were never bored. They had lots of activities going all the time, so they were entertained when we were in that main pool. We also walked all around the entire resort, and the pool over in the Cars section is very small, and there wasn’t too many people there. So, that would be nice if you like it a little quiet. Little Mermaid pool, same…..quiet and small.
We even utilized the bar by the main pool, and drinks were (of course) very expensive.
The room – We had a family suite in the Lion King section, and our room was perfect for us 4. I kept thinking that if we were a family of 5, this would be so perfect too. But you get much bigger than that, and it can get a little crowded. It’s basically like a one bedroom suite with two bathrooms. The one bed pulls down from the wall where the table sites, and the other is a pull out sofa bed. I have to admit, the sofa bed was a pleasant surprise, it was rather comfortable. Both my Mom and I thought it was one of the better sofa beds we had ever seen.
Overall – I would highly recommend this resort, I feel it is an affordable price for those larger families, and yet you can do a standard room over in the Little Mermaid wing too. Great decor, ample space for the sheer size of this resort, and friendly staff, always willing to help.
