Welcome to the Mile High City!

As the youngest child in a family that travelled, I am constantly bombarded by my parents trying to force memories out of my childhood. “Remember when we did xyz….” “No, Mom, I was 2.” “Well you were there!” This is a typical conversation in my house, dare I mention that even while in-utero I was supposed to ‘remember.’ But, Denver was definitely not something I had any recollection of. I have seen numerous pictures of friends skiing and visiting the Coors’ factory, but my trip was basically another launch point, and a great excuse to elongate a vacation and spend some time with family. After landing (yea, another flight!) my fiance and I were picked up by my older brother who had recently moved back to Denver after a stint in NYC. Whether or not you call it lucky, we were able to see first-hand the start of the still raging wildfires in the Colorado area which looked like massive thunderheads taking over the city. Afterwards, we arrived at a great loft-style downtown apartment and after being wined and dined (some family traits are bonuses) by my brother and his lovely girlfriend, they wanted to take us somewhere ‘Denverish.’ So, we headed to a local brew and bluegrass festival! The weather was HOT, but at least not 1/2 as humid as my recent time in Costa Rica and some ‘Merican beer tasted delish! It was a great time to meet some of their friends, spend time with them and end our evening with an outdoor Italian meal in a small Denver neighborhood I would have never found on my own! Tomorrow we are prepping, because on Monday we are saying good-bye to society!.
