Wonderful Properties in East Africa

We stayed at some wonderful properties on the trip to East Africa.  Here is a short description of the places that we stayed.

In Nairobi we stayed at the Fairmont Norfolk Hotel, the oldest hotel in Nairobi.  This was very nice and close to the airport.  There is a national park right by the airport, so there can be wildlife on the road on your drive to the hotel.

Our first lodge was Segera Retreat in Laikipia, where we stayed in a villa within beautifully manicured gardens.  The staff were wonderful and the food was excellent.

We were then on to Angama Mara in the Maasi Mara, high on a hill, in tented suites.  The wildlife will come right up to the lodge.  The setting was beautiful and they even offered a dinner in the outdoors where they set the tables with crystal, candlelight, bonfires and they barbecue the meal.

Our next stop was at Singita Faru Faru in the Serengeti.  This property was set along a river and a watering hole.  Wonderful setting, with excellent food and service.

We moved then to Singita Sabora, a tented camp site and what you think of when you think of “Out of Africa”.  It was so amazing to sit outside eating your meals and watching the game very close by.

Our last stop in Tanzania was at the Ngorongoro & Beyond Lodge.  This property sat right on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.  The views were spectacular and the food and staff were amazing.  What a way to end a trip to East Africa.
