Mother of the Groom at a Destination Wedding

My son was recently married in Puerto Vallarta at the RIU. As the Mother of the Groom, it was the most relaxing job that I have had as a Travel Advisor. My son and his bride worked very closely with the onsite wedding coordinator that I was able to put him in touch with through my connections.

As an MOG, here is my advice:

  • Find the right dress — make sure that it fits with the weather conditions
  • Be supportive — offer assistance when requested
  • Start planning the Grooms Dinner early:
    • Schedule it upon arrival of guests
    • Reserve a special area in one of the restaurants for the event
    • Have a speciality beverage in honor of the couple
    • Decorate with wedding colors in mind

It’s also your job to socialize with the guests and make sure they are in the right place at the right time. You want to make sure they are aware of the scheduled events. You can also assist with planning an excursion for the group to get to know one another.

Is your son planning a destination wedding? Let me help with the arrangements and guide you to be the #1 MOG!!

Horseback in Salta

My trip to Argentina was one I will never forget. On the the highlights as horseback riding in Salta. We rode in full gear … I strapped on chaps and of course I was give the tallest horse and I had the shortest legs, but that didn’t stop me. I hopped right on and took off.

My horse jumped right in to a full on gallop and didn’t slow down. It was a beautiful ride through the Nothern part of the Andes Mountains outside of Salta. We rode through vineyards, fields and waterbeds.

This was a whole day affair. We stopped at a  Sayta Ranch, a small privately owned ranch next to vineyard.  We enjoyed a Gauchou BBQ where they cooked a full cow over an open fire … It was delicious! I washed down the meal with a local Malbec.

Would you like to head to Argentina? It’s gorgeous and I would be happy to help set you up with the perfect itinerary.

Mountains or Beach … Puerto Vallarta is the place to be!

13709979_1232022230150193_4714941814747452933_nI had the opportunity to join Funjet Vacations to experience Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.   This picturesque town located between the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Madre Mountains is a popular travel destination. It offers beautiful beaches, cultural activities, water sports, and more. The Grand Fiesta Americana is a stunning property perched on the golden shores of the Pacific Ocean and just east are the tropical rainforests of the Sierra Madre Mountains. Located just six minutes from the Historic Downtown District.

At Grand Fiesta Americana you can enjoy 14 restaurants and bars with all types of cuisines, from Asian to your traditional Mexican meal.  If you are a seafood lover you must check out La Cevicheria. I highly recommend their ceviche …it  is out of this WORLD!

Their accommodations are top notch. You’re not lacking space, that’s for sure, and be sure to indulge the beautiful ocean views. You can also admire the simply breathtaking red sunsets from your balcony. There’s nothing better then enjoying a cocktail with an ocean breeze in Grand Fiesta Americana open air Mojito bar. Imagine listening to the crashing waves getting ready to start your day or the sound will slowly put you to sleep at night.
