4-Day Tour of Singapore’s Unique Museums & Cultural Venues

Catch a concert, ballet or opera at the Esplanade on Marina Bay.  Experiencing the unusual architecture of this mecca for the arts is worth the trip alone.  Over 3,000 acts of every performance art imaginable are held each year in this comfortable venue.  If you opt for a matinee, later in the evening you can take a tour of the Gardens by the Bay, which features a peaceful Japanese garden, and view a spectacular sunset over the Supertree Grove.

Day two takes you on a tour of Chinatown with visits to mosques and temples that exemplify the wide diversity of religious beliefs that exist side by side in this island nation. You’ll also have the chance to visit Singapore’s first Chinese school housed in the Thian Hock Keng Temple which also is the location for Singapore’s Musical Box Museum.

On the third day you’ll take a scenic walk through Fort Canning Park, a portion of which is the site of an important archeological dig which has unearthed artifacts that date as far back as the 14th century.  You can also take a short walk through the Spice Gardens for a glimpse into this area’s culinary origins.  Close by is the National Museum of Singapore which highlights its colonial history as well as exhibits of memorabilia from the Japanese occupation of the country during WWII.

Your last day will be spent at the Singapore Maritime Gallery, focusing on maritime history.
A visit to the SEA Aquarium gives you access to over 1,000 species of local sea creatures, and features an amazing shark exhibit with authentic habitat.

During this 4 day tour you’ll have the opportunity to sample the wide variety of international cuisine that has made Singapore a favorite destination for “foodies.”  The “hawker food centers” serve up local delicacies like barbecued sambal stingray, savory duck noodle, and the ubiquitous chicken rice, very reasonably priced.  Singapore also boasts a number of trendy restaurants and clubs in the Dempsey Hill and Holland Village neighborhoods where you’ll find wine bars, whisky bars and the original Singapore gin sling.
