Hey Amber….
We had a wonderful time on our trip to Huatulco! The resort was beautiful and very modern. We had a room on the 3rd floor (no one above us) in building 5 which had a wonderful view. The trip there and back went smooth and we enjoyed the small airport in Huatulco. We had some problems checking in to Secrets, but once that got resolved, we enjoyed our time there. The weather was sunny, slight breeze and hot every day and actually cooled down in the evening and early morning, so for us, it was perfect. People were up early putting towels on chairs to reserve them, but we’re used to that. The pools were awesome and never seemed crowded at all. We loved not having to wear wristbands and not having to make reservations at the restaurants. As far as the food went, it was pretty good. We did miss the large, beautiful buffets that we’ve had at RIU & Barcelo resorts. There were 3 evening buffets offered while we were there (2 Italian & 1 Mexican) but they were small and pretty congested and the lines were long. Rob had a massage at the spa and said it was one of the best ever. I had a mud bath on the beach at LaBocana (we walked down the sidewalk about 10 minutes) which is a beautiful secluded area. The river runs into the ocean, so we floated down it several times. One afternoon we took a taxi ($6.00) to LaCruciceta and walked around the town and did some shopping. Then we took another taxi to Santa Cruz and had beers and chips/salsa on the beach and sat there until later into the evening. We always felt safe and everyone was so nice and helpful. As far as Secrets being an adults only resort, we totally fit in. Most everyone was at least 40 and up. We met many people our age and older and alot of them were from Canada. So all in all, Huatulco was great! The area is not very developed or commercialized which we loved. We’d go back there in a heartbeat!
