Christmas Market River Cruise

In Europe, there are many magical areas where Christmas Markets fill the streets with sights and sounds of the season.

I was on a river cruise on AMA Waterways, on the Danube River, visiting all sorts of markets.

One of my favorites was in the city of Mozart, Salzburg, at the Salzburger Christkindl-Markt.

The market surrounds the famous water fountain scene from Sound of Music, where Maria sings her “I Have Confidence” song, holding her guitar case and dancing in the square.  During the winter months, the fountain is covered, and the beautiful Christmas Market is all around this area.  

There is something so magical about these markets.  Walking around, taking in the smell, the joy, the season.

It’s by far my favorite time of year, but to enjoy it in Europe, that was remarkable.
